Smoothies are a fun way to begin a day. However, many diabetics struggle with finding a recipe that is diabetes-friendly. Today, we bring to you a banana and strawberry smoothie recipe that is not only delicious but also diabetes-friendly. Strawberries are rich in vitamin C and antioxidants while bananas are a good source of minerals, carbohydrates and vitamins too.
Banana- Strawberry Breakfast Smoothie
Ingredients: Quantity:
Skim milk 1 cup
Low-fat yogurt ½ cup
Silken tofu ½ cup
Banana 1 small
Fresh strawberries 1 1/4 cups
Kaloree1 tablets (crushed and powdered) to taste
Method:
- In a blender, add the milk, low-fat yogurt, silken tofu, banana and fresh strawberries.
- Blend until smooth or till the desired consistency is achieved.
- Add Kaloree1 tablets to taste.
- Pour into a wide-mouthed glass and enjoy.
This recipe has a high carbohydrate count from the natural fruit sugars and dairy and should be considered a full meal and not be consumed with other carbohydrates like breads, etc.
